Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui Holds Consultation with Acting First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostenko

On May 7, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui and visiting Acting First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yuriy Kostenko held the consultation between the two Foreign Ministries in Beijing. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern.

Li said China attaches great importance to ties with Ukraine and is ready to make joint efforts with it to further enhance political trust, deepen and expand pragmatic cooperation on economy, trade, humanities and science and technology and strengthen communication and cooperation, so as to push forward bilateral ties.

Kostenko said Ukraine regards the ties with China as one of the priorities of its foreign policy and will firmly adhere to the one-China policy and continue to support China's positions on Taiwan, Tibet and other questions. Ukraine hopes to further strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China in all areas to comprehensively raise the level of bilateral ties, he added.
