On May 6, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo met in the Foreign Ministry with a visiting delegation from the Committee for Foreign Policy of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, led by Chairperson Stefen Glavan. Both sides spoke highly of the traditional friendship and the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in recent years, expressing willingness to make joint efforts to further push forward their comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership. Wu expressed appreciation for Romania's staunch support to China on issues related to Taiwan, Tibet and the Beijing Olympic Games. Glavan said Romania attaches great importance to ties with China, reaffirming his country's adherence to the one-China policy and opposition to politicizing the Olympics. He also wished the Beijing Olympic Games a great success.

The delegation is visiting China at the invitation of Foreign Affairs Committee of the NPC.
