ASEAN-China Commemorative Summit

According to the agreement among Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and the Heads of State/Government of the ASEAN Member Countries at the 9th ASEAN-China Summit last year, the Commemorative Summit Marking the 15th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations will be convened on 30 October, 2006 in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Premier Wen Jiabao and Heads of State/Government of the ASEAN Member Countries will attend the Commemorative Summit. The Third China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the Third China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) will be held concurrently.

ASEAN-China Commemorative Summit is the first summit to be held in China between the leaders of ten ASEAN countries and China. It will be a great historical event in the ASEAN-China history. In the Summit, the leaders of the two sides will take stock of the developments and successful experiences of the ASEAN-China friendly relationship and chart a course for the future development of the relations of the two sides.

All friends from the press circle are welcome to interview and report the above-mentioned Summit. The Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China will be in charge of the applications of foreign journalists to the summit. Detailed information on registration is provided on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the topic of "ASEAN-China Commemorative Summit" (http://asean-chinasummit.fmprc.gov.cn) or on the website of Foreign Journalists Press Center (http://ipc.fmprc.gov.cn). The State Council Information Office of China will be in charge of the applications of Chinese journalists, including those from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan province. Relevant details for the application will be informed later.

At 10 o'clock on 6 September 2006 (Wednesday), the State Council Information Office will hold a press conference to introduce the bilateral trade and commercial development all through the 15 years since China and ASEAN established the dialogue relations, as well as the information of the Third China-ASEAN Expo and the Third China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.
