The Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN),established on 8 August 1967, consists totally ten member countries at present, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. The ASEAN region has a population of about 500 million, a total area of 4.5 million square kilometers, a combined gross domestic product of almost USD 870 million, and a total trade volume of about USD 850 million. The Observer Country of ASEAN is Papua New Guinea. The Dialogue Partners of ASEAN includes the USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the EU, Republic of Korea, China, Russia and India. |
